About Us

Since 1976, the Oklahoma State University Writing Center has been the place where students come to think out loud, talk about writing, and put their thoughts on paper. The primary purpose of the Writing Center is to trigger the potential in individuals to become well-developed and more effective writers. In addition, the Writing Center seeks to promote intercultural communication through the collaborative process.

In one-on-one conferences, consultants help writers de-mystify the sometimes complex process of writing, and guide them towards the desired effectiveness and richness of written communication. Consultants work with writers of all experience levels and writing of any type including term papers, resumes, and dissertations, as well as creative pieces. Instead of simply proofreading or editing, the goal of the Writing Center is to provide tools which enable students to revise, edit and proofread their own work.

The ultimate objective of the Writing Center is to cultivate better writers who will be able to create effective texts.

Location: Morrill Hall room 104, OSU Main Campus, Stillwater.
