What we do at the Writing Center
Since 1976, the Oklahoma State University Writing Center has been the place where students, faculty, and staff come to think out loud, talk about writing, and put their thoughts on paper. The primary purpose of the Writing Center is to assist individuals in becoming well-developed and more effective writers.
In one-on-one conferences, consultants help de-mystify the complex process of writing. As informed readers, consultants work with writers of all experience levels at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and planning to final drafts. Clients are welcome to bring any type of writing, including term papers, resumes, dissertations, as well as creative pieces. Instead of simply proofreading or editing, the goal of the Writing Center is to provide tools which enable clients to revise, edit, and proofread their own work.
The Writing Center strives to cultivate writers through their texts.
