BA in English

The undergraduate degree in English at OSU is both a broad and flexible program with emphasis on either literature or writing, or some combination of the two. Required courses assure a coherent introduction to British and American literature yet allow students to shape individual programs around particular interests. We offer options in literature, creative writing, screen studies, and technical writing. Extra-curricular activities for English Majors include the English Club and our undergraduate literary publication, Papyrus.

"As English majors seeking teacher certification, we find our professors to be especially helpful to us. Not only are they friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible, they are excellent models for the kind of teachers we hope to be. They encourage us to develop our own ideas, think critically about the world in which we live, and have fun during our education."
~~~~Ben Lacey & Julie Walker, English majors
