Financial Aid

Financial aid is provided through teaching assistantships, through waivers and fellowships, and through internships and research assistantships with other OSU departments and offices.

Teaching. Teaching opportunities are available for graduate students in the Technical Writing Program, with responsibility for the following:

• Courses in intermediate technical writing
• Tutoring in the English Department's Writing Center
• Courses in first-year composition (upon approval of the Composition Director)

Inexperienced Instructors. OSU has a No Rookies on Rookies policy, meaning that inexperienced instructors spend the first semester of their teaching assistantships as tutors in the writing center. During this semester, they also take appropriate methodology courses and observe experienced instructors.

Methods Courses. To teach courses in Technical Writing, TAs must enroll in English 5233, Methods of Teaching Technical and Business Writing, in the first semester of their study at OSU (unless they have completed a comparable course elsewhere).

Other Aid. Waivers and fellowships of various types are available:

Private Sponsors Internships. Paid internships are available through many companies in Oklahoma and through many on-campus departments and offices.
