MA Plan of Study
The plan of study must be filed with the Graduate College before completing the 17th hour of graduate credit in work toward the Master's Degree.
Planning Meeting. Prior to completing the 17th hour of graduate credit, students should meet with their Advisory Committee to discuss preparation, career goals, and plans for graduate study. They should agree upon a plan of study, the foreign language requirement, and tentative plans for the thesis or creative component.
Submitting the Plan of Study. A Plan of Study Form is included in the packet students receive from the Graduate College upon enrollment, or is available online at: http://gradcollege.okstate.edu/download/default.htm.
Soon after the planning meeting, the student will fill out the Plan of Study Form and submit this draft to the English Graduate Office. The unit assistant will type a final copy and return it to the student, who will obtain signatures from all members of the advisory committee. The student will then return the signed form to the English Graduate Office in 308 Morrill Hall for the department head's signature. After obtaining all signatures, the student will deliver the completed and signed form to 202 Whitehurst. Students are advised to make a copy for themselves.
Creative Component. The course used as a creative component must be designated with an asterisk on the plan of study.
Changes. Changes to the plan of study can be made with the approval of the Advisory Committee and initialed by the advisor. A final, updated plan of study must be filed at the beginning of the semester in which the degree is to be conferred.
Ten-Year Rule. Coursework more than ten years old at the time of actual graduation will not be accepted on a plan of study.
