During the Fall semester, we were busy with joint meetings of the Oklahoma STC chapters, software presentations, and presentations at the regional STC conference.

This Spring, we've had several exciting meetings, including a panel of experts that reviewed technical writing in areas such as web design, product documentation, project management, and cross-cultural communication.

Our last social event was at the Hideaway on March 21st when we enjoyed the company of Jeff Hibbard. He delivered three guest lectures earlier that day about the current training needed for technical communicators and about how technical writing impacts every sector.

We have revamped the Friday "happy" hour, so join us around 6:00pm at the Stonewall for a cold beverage.

We are always planning something, so please check back here often for the latest information about upcoming STC-OSU sponsored events.

We had our Spring seminar with Jeff Price from the OSU Art Department on March 29th. Jeff gave an outstanding workshop centered on Photoshop, aimed at both beginning and intermediate levels. The workshop was well attended with people driving in from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

We're taking suggestions about your interests for upcoming seminars. Feel free to email our president, Andrea Zachary at azachary77@yahoo.com with your suggestions.

STC's 52nd Annual Conference

May 8-11, 2005
Baltimore, Maryland

The challenges in our profession today are numerous and exciting. We need to provide information that is accessible to an ever-growing range of audiences.

We have to define what technical communication is to the business world and convince employers of the value that we add. We should take the time to mentor the next generation of technical communicators.

We will decide the course of our profession for the next fifty years and beyond. You are invited to help navigate the future of technical communication by presenting your ideas, studies, experiences, and expertise to your fellow communicators. Join us at STC's 52nd Annual Conference in Seattle, Washington for an exciting exchange of ideas.

STC has arranged for special rates for this year’s conference attendees at five Seattle hotels. All hotels are within walking distance of the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

See http://www.stc.org/52ndConf/index.asp for more details about the conference.
