The concentration in Film for English undergraduates, introduced in 1999, has led to an explosion of Screen Studies at OSU.

World Picture

World Picture is a new online journal of experimental theory co-edited by two Screen Studies faculty members, Meghan Sutherland and Brian Price, along with John David Rhodes of the University of Sussex, UK. Scott Krzych, a Ph.D. candidate in Screen Studies at OSU, serves as Assistant Editor.

The World Picture Conference is an annual conference devoted to cultural theory and media, which takes place every fall at OSU. This highly selective conference draws media theorists from around the world to present papers on a particular theme. The 2007 World Picture Conference is on "Media and Ethics" and will feature keynote speeches by Joan Copjec and Lee Edelman.

In November 2006, the Screen Studies Program organized and hosted the Framework Conference, an international conference for Cinema and Media Studies.

Sponsored by OSU's Screen Studies Program, the exciterbulb film series screens a wide variety of international and American films during Spring and Fall semesters. Screenings are held in Stillwater at OSU's Noble Reserach Center Auditorium.

The Student Union Activity Board sponsors the SUAB Movie Series, a selection of recent hit films screened in the Student Union Little Theater.

C.R.A.S. logo Founded in Fall of 2002, the Claude Rains Appreciation Society is the Screen Studies Program's official student organization, conducting its biweekly seminar in one of the departmental screening rooms. C.R.A.S. is dedicated to unearthing obscure cinematic treasures, while providing a forum for informal discussion and cooperative research within OSU's Screen Studies community.

O.F.V.S.S. logo Members of the Screen Studies Program also participate in the state-wide Oklahoma Film and Video Studies Society, an organization for all film and media teachers, students and artists throughout the state.
