Extra-curricular activities for English Majors include the various organizations such as the Creative Writing Association and CRAS.
The English Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with the following options:
- English - General (Requirements)
- Creative Writing (Requirements)
- Professional Writing (Requirements)

Degree requirements are provided by the Office of the Registrar and reflect the current (2010-11) academic year. For previous years, please consult the Registrar's website.
"As English majors seeking teacher certification, we find our professors to be especially helpful to us. Not only are they friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible, they are excellent models for the kind of teachers we hope to be. They encourage us to develop our own ideas, think critically about the world in which we live, and have fun during our education."
~~~~Ben Lacey & Julie Walker, English majors
A degree in English is more an accumulation of opportunities than an entry into a single profession. Some of our majors go on to graduate or professional schools, some opt for teacher certification, and some choose from an assortment of other career possibilities in:
- Technical Writing
- Human Resources
- Public Relations
- Government Service
