EGSA will be granting travel awards, as funds permit. The purpose of the awards is to encourage graduate students in the English Department to participate in activities that will aid them in their professional development.
Each submission should have clipped to it the application cover as well as any other specifics the awards call for.
PURPOSE AND APPLICABILITY
EGSA Travel Awards facilitate professional development for English Department graduate students. The awards are intended to mitigate travel-related costs for professional development travel including but not limited to research and conference presentations. Students may apply for awards for travel for any professional development purpose; however, EGSA reserves the right to reject applications if EGSA deems those applications beyond the scope of these travel awards.
DESCRIPTION AND GUIDELINES
Students may apply for the award if travel occurred between the dates of July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017. The application deadline is February 15, 2017. Applicants will be notified of awards by March 6, 2017. Students may only apply for and receive one award per year.
Awards are divided into three categories based on geography: in-state, out-of-state, and international. Travel within Oklahoma is considered in-state. Travel within the United States but outside of Oklahoma is considered national. Travel outside the United States is considered international.
The maximum award amount is $200. The actual award amount may vary depending on the amount of eligible applicants and funds available. Students must be enrolled during the time of reimbursement. Awards will be given in the form of a bursar deposit in Fall 2017.
Please email applications to firstname.lastname@example.org or place them in the EGSA mailbox in Morrill 205.
SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS
A selection committee of EGSA members will select all the submissions that meet the criteria for the award. (i.e. They must be serious submissions.) Then the members of the EGSA scholarship committee will select the best submissions
