The Audre Chapman Scholarship in Literature

The scholarship award, derived from the income of an endowment for a memorial scholarship, will be in the amount of $600 and will be available to the recipient in spring 2009 and fall 2009, with $300 being paid each semester.

Selection of scholarship winners will be based on the following criteria:

The applicant must be a full-time OSU student at the time of the scholarship (spring 2009 and fall 2009) and be planning to teach literature.
Academic achievement as evidenced by (a) grade point of at least 3.2; and (b) letters of recommendation from at least two faculty.
A writing sample.

Any full-time undergraduate English major who is attending OSU and who is a junior (completed 60-93 hours) may apply for this scholarship. Preference for this scholarship will be given to students from Southwestern Oklahoma. If no qualified student from Southwestern Oklahoma can be found, selection will be made from applicants from the state of Oklahoma.

PLEASE ATTACH A WRITING SAMPLE AND AN UNOFFICIAL COPY OF YOUR GRADE RECORD TO THE APPLICATION FORM. GRADE RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE FROM SIS. ALSO, INCLUDE THE APPLICANT'S NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER AND CWID TYPED ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER AND HAVE TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FROM FACULTY MEMBERS IN THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT SENT TO JUDEAN SCOTT (AT THE ADDRESS BELOW) BY THE DEADLINE.

Applications will be processed by the Departmental Scholarship Committee. Announcement of the winner will be posted in January.
