OSU's First Rhodes Scholar:
English Major Blaine Greteman (05-31-99)

Among the most exciting events of the last year was the selection of undergraduate English major Blaine Greteman of Hydro to the elite group of nationally honored individuals, Rhodes Scholars .

Blaine came to OSU as a President's Distinguished Scholar majoring in biosystems engineering, but switched to English, earning the Audre Chapman Scholarship Award, a Wentz scholarship and funding for a Wentz research project on the Oklahoma reception of Grapes of Wrath. His Honors Thesis on Ben Jonson (directed by Edward Jones) should be in finished in time for him to the U.K. next fall to pursue studies in English at Oxford University.
