English Doctoral Student Wins Award

Candie McKee, a PhD student in Technical Writing, has received a Distinguished Chapter Service Award from the national Society of Technical Communication. As the former president of the Oklahoma Chapter and a professional technical writer, she has greatly contributed to increasing the professional activities of the OSU student chapter. She has served as a mentor for students, and has motivated members to enter national competitions.

As she completes her PhD in Technical Writing here at OSU, Ms. McKee is also employed as a full-time faculty member at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she teaches Technical Writing. She is also an active member of the scholarly community, presenting at STC conferences, conducting research, and writing articles and reviews for publication. The current first Vice-President of STC, Suzanna Laurent, came to present the award to Ms. McKee on March 22 at the Society’s meeting.
