Graduate Studies in English
The English graduate program at OSU serves students with
diverse interests. Our curriculum supports intensive study in Literature,
Creative Writing, Screen Studies, Teaching English as a Second
Language (TESL), Linguistics, and Rhetoric & Professional Writing. But it also allows
students to combine areas according to their own professional goals.
The heart of our program is its faculty, who are not only nationally
recognized scholars and writers but also committed teachers and mentors.
OSU grants on average 20 Masters and Doctoral degrees in English each year.
TESL graduates teach in bilingual classrooms both in the United States
and abroad. Other MAs and MFAs teach or enter Doctoral programs. Despite an
uncertain job market, our PhDs find themselves
well-prepared to meet the demands of a changing academic marketplace.
Recent graduates teach at colleges and universities throughout the country.
The supportive faculty and flexible curriculum make the English
Department at OSU an attractive environment for graduate study.
See what our graduate students have been doing on our news page.
