Recent Books, Anthologies, Awards (2009-2010) Congratulations to Doren Robbins whose book, My Piece of the Puzzle, (Eastern Washington UP, 2008) was awarded a Josephine Miles PEN Oakland Poetry Award for 2009. Congratulations to Megan Harlan, whose story, "Gazelle," appeared in Issue 164, and whose first poetry book, Mapmaking, just won the 2009 John Ciardi Prize for Poetry, and will be published by University of Missouri's BkMk Press in 2010. Alice James Books will publish his manuscript Shahid Reads His Own Palm in May 2010. Also Penguin will be publishing his memoir, A Question of Freedom, on August 6, 2009. W. Norton in July 2009. Congratulations to Clint Van Winkle (Issue 158) who recently published a memoir Soft Spots: A Marine’s Memoir of Combat and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, from St. Martin’s Press. Congratulations to Christopher Goodrich whose poem "Spotless" (Issue 164) appears in his first full-length book of poems, Nevertheless, Hello to be published by Steel Toe Books. Congratulations to Tim Poland (Issue 166) who recently published a novel The Safety of Deeper Water, from Vandalia Press, an imprint of the West Virginia University Press. Congratulations to Terri McCord (Issue 164) whose poem "The Healing" won first place in the South Carolina Poetry Initiative/The State 2009 Single Poem Contest, chosen by South Carolina Poet Laureate Marjory Wentworth. Congratulations to Thom Satterlee (Issue 166) and John Bargowski (Issue 152) who recevied 2009 Poetry Grant Awards from the National Endowment for the Arts. Congratulations to Sara Daily (Issue 164) whose chapbook The Science of Want won the Shadow Poetry 11th Annual Chapbook competition and will be available in late May, 2009.
